Who are we?
We are a network for Japanese nationals who have studied in Sweden, and non-Japanese nationals who have studied in Sweden and currently reside in Japan. SWAN Japan has its roots in Tokyo’s Swedish Embassy and became an independent, officially certified alumni network acknowledged by the Swedish Institute in 2017. Ever since our inception, we maintain close ties with the Embassy as well other important organizations within the Sweden community in Japan. Another partner of ours is the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCJ) which among other things supports job seekers at Swedish companies. You can access their career page here. We also work closely with SWEA Japan, an organization that has existed in Tokyo since 1988.
Most of are members are Japanese nationals, but non-Japanese nationals who currently reside in Japan are also welcome to join our network. As of March 2023 we have over 693 members, and hope to grow more in the years to come. As we are a Swedish Institute certified organization, we join SIs global network of alumni associations and annual conferences, where alumni networks across the globe come together to share experiences and discuss improvements.

私たちはスウェーデンに留学した日本人と、スウェーデンに留学して現在日本に住んでいる日本国籍以外の人のための同窓ネットワークです。SWAN Japanは、東京のスウェーデン大使館から生まれ、2017年にスウェーデン外務省の組織であるSwedish Institute（SI）が認める公式同窓ネットワークとなりました。設立以来、大使館をはじめ、日本のスウェーデン・コミュニティの数々の組織と密接な関係を保っています。また、在日スウェーデン商工会議所（SCCJ）は、私たちのパートナーであり、スウェーデン企業への就職を希望する方達を支援しております。SCCJのキャリアページにはこちらからアクセスできます。また、1988年に東京で設立されたSWEA Japanとも緊密に連携しています。
メンバーの多くは日本人ですが、日本在住の外国人の方もネットワークに参加することができます。2023年3月現在、会員数は693名を超え、今後さらに増加することが期待されています。私たちはSIの認定団体であるため、世界中のスウェーデン同窓ネットワークと繋がっており、各国の同窓ネットワークが一同に会するSI主催の年次総会にも参加しています。
Why?
Our aim is to create a broad network of Swedish Alumni in Japan through which we hope that our members can maintain a close link to Sweden. In short, we hope that SWAN Japan will provide its members with opportunities to nourish their Sweden connection and create a network of people who share the same background.
登録すべき理由
私たちの目的は、日本にいるスウェーデン留学同窓生の幅広いネットワークを構築することで、会員がスウェーデンと密接な関係を維持できるようにすることです。SWAN Japanは、メンバーにスウェーデンとの繋がりを維持する機会を提供し、同じ背景を持つメンバーとの親睦を深めるイベントを開催しております。
What do we do?
SWAN Japan’s activities include seminars, workshops and networking activities. Our board is elected bi-annually at our Annual General Meeting that is open to all members. While the board is handling the operational tasks, we encourage all our members to come to us with ideas! Anyone can create an event, so please do contact the board with any ideas you may have.
Some of our past events include midsummer celebrations, crayfish parties, kubb field days, democracy fika, Swedish language cafés, career days, casual networking events, and much more! In addition to our own events, SWAN Japan members often get invited to exlusive events with our partners – the Embassy of Sweden and SCCJ. We aim for a good balance of online and offline events.
どんな活動をしているの？
SWAN Japanの活動には、セミナー、ワークショップ、ネットワーキングなどがあります。役員は2年に1度、全会員が参加できる年次総会で選出されます。SWAN Japanの運営は理事会が行っていますが、会員の皆様にはぜひアイデアを出していただきたいと考えています！誰でもイベントを作ることができますので、どんなアイデアでも理事会にご連絡ください。
過去に開催したイベントには、ミッドサマー、ザリガニパーティー、クッブ運動会、デモクラシーフィーカ、スウェーデン語言語交流会、キャリアデー、カジュアルなネットワーキング・イベントなど、多種多様な内容となっています！またSWAN Japanの会員は、パートナーであるスウェーデン大使館やSCCJの特別イベントに招待されることもあります。オンラインとオフラインのバランスがとれたイベントを目指しています。
Who can join?
To join the network you need to either be a Japanese national who has studied in Sweden (can live anywhere in the world) or a non-Japanese national who resides in Japan. Membership with us is free. Please see more details in our membership page where you can also register. We hope to be able to grow together with you and establish our position as an inclusive, free and active Alumni Network.
誰が参加できるのですか？
ネットワークに参加するには、スウェーデンに留学経験のある日本国籍の方（世界中どこに住んでいても可）、または日本に住んでいる外国籍の方のどちらかである必要があります。会員登録は無料です。詳しくは、会員登録ページでご確認ください。

Our partners
SWAN Japan is cooperating wtih organizations in both Sweden and Japan. Thanks to these partnerships, we are better able to achieve our goal of promoting Sweden and the Sweden community in Japan. We are officially certified by SI (the Swedish Institute) that is our main supporting body. In Japan, we work closely with the Embassy of Sweden as well as the Swedish Chamber of Commerce to further our mutual interests.

The Board
Our board is elected bi-annually and any SWAN Japan member can apply to join. The board’s main task is to run activities for our community, build partnerships, and listen to our members. Our main board runs SWAN Japan as a whole, and the Kansai Chapter board is in charge of local activities in the Kansai area.
Our current board was elected on 13 January 2022 at our Annual General Meeting and consist of a diverse group of people. We all come from different backgrounds and have studied in different fields (we even have two photographers among us!)

理事
理事は隔年で選出され、SWAN Japanのメンバーであれば誰でも参加することができます。理事会の主な仕事は、コミュニティのための活動を運営し、パートナーシップを構築し、メンバーの意見に耳を傾けること等が役割として求められています。理事がSWAN Japan全体を運営し、関西チャプターの理事会が関西での活動を担当します。
現在の役員は、2022年1月13日の年次総会で選出され、多様な人々で構成されています。私たちは皆、異なるバックグラウンドを持ち、さまざまな分野で勉強してきました（中には写真家も2人います！）。
